Valkaria derives its name from Valkyrie, a warrior-maiden of Norse mythology.
Valkaria is a largely rural town with a mix of older homes and newer upscale homes on acre-plus lots. It had a population of 1,623 in the 2000 census.
You can find Valkaria by driving south from Melbourne or Palm Bay along on US1 along the Indian River Lagoon.
