Rockledge
Rockledge is the oldest incorporated community in Brevard County. Founded on August 7 1887, it is also the oldest winter resort on Florida's east coast.
The early industry in Rockledge was based on tourism and citrus.
Rockledge is a primarily residential community with over 20,000 residents. The typical household is a middle aged couple with school-aged and adult children, and with a median income of $43,444. Rockledge has a small base of light industrial businesses, retail stores, a hospital, and four public schools.
A point of interest is Ashley's Restaurant, reportedly a haunted establishment, and a draw to ghost hunters.
The area of Rockledge is about 10 square miles. It is located south of Cocoa and north of Melbourne, and fronts the Indian River Lagoon on the east.
